hmm i guess i dont really have much to blog about nowadays except for the days in bmt...
which is quite interesting really
had guard duty on a friday night two weeks ago
was really fun cause my platoon did it together at ammo dump and we got to talk a lot,
especially with my bunk-mate, clement
and there were actually quite a lot to see and many funny moments when we were prowling
one instance was particularly funny cause we had to walk through a super dark path in the middle of the forest and the only thing we can see is the white cement floor in front of us so both of us were super scared
after a few times of walking through that path, both of us cant take it anymore and we decided to put our arms around each other
then nearing the end of the path, i suddenly felt a pat on my back and a shout:"RUN LAH!"
without thinking, i chiong-ed forward
when i finally came to a stop, i heard laughter from clement and went -.-
had grenade this week
was actually quite afraid of placing the grenade into my grenade pouch and running around with it but on the actual day idc anymore lol
the actual throw went like a blur but when the 4th person in my detail (group) was throwing, i think my sir took a little too long to ask me to duck cause when i counted in my head, the grenade exploded after just 2 seconds so i was thinking wtf after that lol
well field camps coming soon so after that i hope we will get to slack more lol
ok nothing much shall update after field camp
hope it will be easier than expected (cross fingers)
life's a joke; we are all JOKERS

live firing!!
this week was fun
well, the title said it all haha
yep, live firing,
the experience of getting to shoot an actual live round that could kill somebody
it was exhilarating, cause everytime the rifle went 'BANG!', you can see the target go down,
yet tiring cause we have to focus so hard on the targets and get into some awkward positions with the ILBV
Monday:
went to the IMT (individual marksmanship trainer) to get ourselves familiarized with the whole procedure of shooting
its this whole room like an arcade (i really mean that literally; its like playing time crisis or something), with modified SAR 21s and they do give actual recoils and stuff
well, that day went by in a blur, we shot for the entire day and it was actually quite easy to shoot lol,
even the night shoot there was super easy, as it was an illuminated screen so yea
Tuesday:
went for the practice shoot!
it was the first time we handled live rounds so i was a little scared i will screw up at first but everything went well in the end :)
platoon 1 was the duty platoon so our PS told us to go as the advance party
basically it was to do sai gang like help prepare the sandbags, clean the place a bit and stuff
did some zeroing by shooting the targets and such, and trying some of the positions we had to use to shoot
oh there was night practice too but that was quite screwed up cause it was too dark and i cant see if i actually hit the target or not
oh the ninja van came so we get to buy some snack and such :D
Wednesday:
actual test day!!!
woke up quite late, like 8
had breakfast, and went to range straight
details 1,2 and 3 went ahead to shoot first and in a blur, my detail (detail 2) had finished firing for the morning shot
i did quite well i think, they really werent kidding when they said that the SAR 21 was easy to shoot
missed none for practice shot (we were given 6 mags, 3 for prac then 3 for actual) but missed 1 for test
...ffffffffffffffffffffffff...
it was partly cause i was really tired from all the proning and squatting so i missed the second shot of my squatting actual shoot D:
then has lunch and in the afternoon was the standing shoot
quite happy i didnt miss any for that but that was to be expected lol
i bought some drinks and sweets from ninja van (yea again, it came)
dinner was quick, we cleaned up all the RAIs and after the rain stopped we went for night shoot
we started at 7 so it was still quite bright, since detail 2 was the first few to go
missed one of my practice shots for the foxhole illum targets :/ but didnt miss for test so it was ok bah
at around 8.30 we went for the rest of the shots at 50m
the groundsheets were soaked in mud when we got there cause of the rain so everybody felt sian
was quite happy i didnt miss for the proning shots but thats when things got super wrong
i did aim properly with my laser and shot all the targets but then i didnt see the targets light up when you actually hit it
so in the end i may have missed all the 8 but who knows, a lot of people got this issue also
but if really they didnt register then wasted :/
i want my marksman D:
oh and during the metal detector check i got knocked 20 cause of a stupid 20cent coin in my pocket lol
thursday was a super slack day
woke up at 8 and cleaned our rifles will 11.30
then did courseware in the afternoon till 5.30 and fall in for dinner, then slack again lol
was quite an awesome day and was even more slack than the Sundays of the confinement period
so i got loads of time to read my book, read sword art online on my phone, listen to music, talk cock wit bunk mates
got too bored and even went down to do some pt lol
friday was like any other pt day
it felt really good to sweat after so long
swim was cut short due to rain and ST felt really good cause we didnt do CPT on the hard court and instead on the D-ring of the track, which didnt feel disgusting lol
then sergeant leroy forced us to do a OTOT run at night,
which was 5 rounds at (supposedly) 2 mins each with 30s rest in between while we wait for those slower ones to catch up
well, supposedly cause leroy just sped up after each round
from 2 mins to 1min50 to 1min40 and eventually 1min30
was quite contented that i can keep up, considering my 2.4 timing
was supposed to do OTOT with ravin, one of my bunk mates but we cancelled cause we were told staff (yea that staff sergeant that indirectly caused one of the recruits to down PES) was taking RT on saturday
so we went back up to talk cock and ravin was caught by leroy for trying to buy drinks without permission
then leroy gave permission to section 4 and the section 4 people came over to show us lol
leroy came in to talk cock with us also and it was super noisy, but it really showed how close we grew after 9 weeks
RT wasnt that bad
staff really took RT and we did 20 rounds around the MPH
then some games, some drills regarding the medicine ball and some competition thingy which is hard to explain here
it wasnt that bad cause we could still laugh about being able to lift our arms after all that so yea
then went to NUS for some talk
but when i reached it already ended so oh well
gonna choose my school soon, maybe next week
will spend time reading up on the modules and stuff
oh well kay thats all
IFC this week, hope it will be easy
kay bb

Ok gonna update a bit on what I've been up to for the last few days
Last week was super shag cause got loads of pt XP
It was just pt all the way from morning till night
But managed to survive and this week is a 3-day pt week(?)
Question mark cause some guy in our company scolded dragon coy MF then the sir say we may not book out this week, since nobody wanted to admit :/
Fffffffff
But maybe dragon trying to f us up cause of some racist stuff from them to our coy
#Complicated story
Admin time getting shorter now since we have to sign and resign the armskote
So RO is now usually at around 8.30 like that
Sigh
Oh went back to aj to return my blazer! (After 41488389831weeks lol)
Wanted to go off directly after passing since I needed to go ntu for some talk but issac (the current tenor sl) persuaded me to stay and listen to them
And well, how can I say no?
So stayed and listen to them
Was quite happy with their songs, minor screw ups here and there, not enough emotion and stuff, the details not super refined but I think they are ready,
Just hope they don't screw up this Friday!
Zoe said she will record so I'm gonna listen to them anyway
Hopefully I can meet them for dinner after the whole thing ends and when they get their distinction but chances look super slim now :/
Then went for the tea party at ntu
Well I think if nus don't convince me why I should join them soon (my letter haven't come yet :/ maybe I got rejected haha, makes my choice easier anyway) I'm gonna take this course
Cause I'm quite happy with the layout, since you can specialize at year 2 and not follow a strict layout of modules
Then I'm also quite interested in the cryptography, coding and algorithm modules
Think I will probably go into this area haha
I'm hoping my results can be good enough so that I can declare a double minor (ntu doesn't offer double majors :/) in psychology and social sciences but oh well, will see in future bah
Yesterday went for badminton with some 9/11 peeps
Was super fun although it was too short... Only played for about 1.5 hours so yea
I realize I keep hitting the shuttlecock back to the centre then have to run around when the other party just stands there
Sigh too long never play alr
Then went for dinner and did some catch up. Nice to hear from them after so long haha
Wanted to post earlier today but Singtel was a bitch
The Internet was down from 7 all the way till about 3 :/
So didn't really do much today except watch some glee and read my book, listen to music
Relaxed life haha
Why can't life be like that :/
Sigh booking in at 7.30 so gonna go eat and change
Hopefully don't Lao sai again :/
May get the stomach flu from my buddy so yea
Ok see y'all in 1/2 weeks time,
Praying hard its 1 though

so i just fininshed reading tuesdays with morrie over the week...
its such an awesome book, i love it
i liked how morrie placed everybody above himself,
and just how mitch albom wrote in such a way that allowed everybody to relate to all the lessons taught,
not just any lessons but lessons on life
i liked two topic particularly,
one was on how so many people are living unfulfilled lives today
isnt that true?
its always the best car, the bigger house, the bigger paycheck
but how many of us are actually happy deep down?
the other was about how people are always "not there" when you talk to them
like they will think about other stuff while talking, and will not be fully absorbed in the conversation
i mean, whats the point of doing that?
i've been really thinking a lot about life recently
maybe too much
well, when you are in BMT, especially obese BMT, you have loads of time to burn so why not?
this week was quite slack cause we are still under scrutiny
but next week will be quite hiong!
especially monday and tuesday
and there's a 3KM route march on wednesday!
excited for it haha
and the guy who got physical exhaustion was forced to down PES so he will be joining Cougar from tuesday onwards
sigh really wish him good luck :/
and so we are on man down when its just 5 weeks into BMT...
well, 14 weeks to POP!
haha its still quite long but still,
week 7 will be a super short and good week cause the others will be POP-ing and so we get to book out early on Friday and only book in on Monday,
and that Friday we will be visiting the Discovery Centre so :D, 3-day PT week
gonna play badminton with some AJ peeps on next Sunday :DDDDDDDDD
ok nothing much
i think i still got stuff to post but forgot haha

4 weeks into NS
hm how do i put this...
NS wasnt what I had expected at first
so on 4th march I enlisted into NS,
after quite a lot of shit and talks and stuff we got introduced into our company, Gryphon, and into our respective platoons and sections
when i got into my section, majority of my section mates were already there and it just so happened that bing you from my jc class was in the same section as me :)
lucky
the first two days went past in a blur
its was just talk after talk after talk
day 3 was when we started our first ever pt, which included aerobics conditioning (which was basically brisk walking) and aerobics
day 4 was the same, and I got my atten c on day 5 ._.
i swear, there is this virus spreading in the company
so i got back on sunday and for the next few days i couldn't do any shit
found out that our encik was leaving and going back to sniper so a staff sergeant was posted to take his place
and he's quite a nice guy, just that he make us do 'disappearing acts', or so he says, which basically requires us to disappear from his sight in 10 secs and appear again when we hear a signal...
ffffff
experienced first hand his short 'pt' session on my day 2
i was already sweating like hell even before the actual warm up
sigh
then day 4 went to see MO for review cause my cough worsened
and got another atten b
wtf
so slacked for another few days
and by the time i got back to ac, they were already running 9 rounds
sigh so now gotta catch up
oh and on our first ever book out day, staff (which is what we call our staff sergeant) made us do some squat thingy
... it was hell
even the fitness instructor who looked fitter that staff couldn't keep up
and one person in platoon 3 got physical exhaustion and was sent to the hospital so now the company is under scrutiny...
so week 4 was a super slack week,
partly cause it rained a lot and cause we had to adhere very strictly to the 15:30 work-rest ratio when the temperature got above 33 degrees
oh well
the sergeants in my company are actually super nice as compared to others
and we really have loads of welfare so i hope that doesnt change any time soon :P
but really, being able to book out at 1.30 for the first 2 official bookouts, sweet
and so todays sunday, which is book in day :/
5pm book in so hopefully there's admin time for us to do shit haha
oh and right, results
im actually quite contented with what i got,
but didnt know why i screwed up in econs :/
oh well
all things considered, im still quite happy.
i really didnt study super hard for As :P
and i got super pissed at my form teacher on thursday...
got home and saw that she told me she cant do my referral for the nus scholarship cause she already did 2 for other students and shes scared that it will affect her credibility...
i really felt betrayed and was really pissed at her irresponsibility
so I had to quickly find some teachers to do the referrals
its really super f-ed up
but luckily my phy and chem tutors were willing to help me do the referrals so i got them to thank (my phy tutor replied almost immediately haha)
it really goes to show how some teachers really do care about their students, while others ... not so much
cause some teachers can actually post this:
This is for all AJC graduates asking for letter of recommendations and appraisal forms:
Please refrain from asking your teachers for letter of recommendations and appraisal forms just days before the deadline. Your teachers and I are very frustrated by the sudden influx of such requests. I just want to raise the point that you are being rather inconsiderate for doing so, if you are one of the culprits.
AJC teacher who chooses to remain anonymous

i think this is such an over-generalisation
i mean, for myself, i got my results on 1st mar, nus application opens on 4th mar, when i enlisted
i applied to the uni when i first booked out and immediately after that, for the scholarships.
and then i asked my teacher for the referral and didnt know she replied since i didnt bring my phone to camp
so... wtf
not for myself alone? yeah, the teachers who take so much effort instilling this into us dont have it in them as well
kk, feel a lil better after ranting...
kaythxbye
